MONTREAL, QUEBEC -- (Marketwire) -- 02/09/12 -- (TSX VENTURE: VDO)(FRANKFURT: NSV)
-- Suite of metal products was generated greater than 99.9% Titanium as
TiO2; greater than 99.9% Vanadium as Ammonium Metavanadate, V2O5 and
V2O3; and pure hematite as Fe2O3
NEVADO RESOURCES CORPORATION (TSX VENTURE: VDO)(FRANKFURT: NSV) (the "Company" or "NEVADO") is pleased to announce the successful completion by NEOMET Technologies Inc. ("NEOMET") of the 150 kilogram Stage 2 mini-plant campaign from the Farrell-Taylor oxide mineralization of NEVADOs wholly owned La Blache Iron-Titanium-Vanadium Project (the "Project") near Baie Comeau, Quebec (refer to the Company news releases dated April 18 and November 1, 2011).
The purpose of the Stage 2 mini-plant campaign was to test and demonstrate the successful operation of each of the major unit operations of the NEOMET Process Flowsheet, namely:
i. leaching of the mineralized material; ii. titanium dioxide precipitation; iii.solvent extraction of vanadium; iv. iron hydrolysis; and v. acid regeneration.
In connection with the campaign, a suite of products was recovered:
i. two grades of titanium dioxide as TiO2, greater than 99.9% and 98.5%;
ii. three forms of greater than 99.9% purity Vanadium as Ammonium
Metavanadate or AMV, V2O5 and V2O3; and
iii.pure hematite (Fe2O3).
Michael Curtis, President and CEO of NEVADO stated "We are extremely pleased with the results of the mini-plant campaign. It has demonstrated the ability of the NEOMET process to treat the NEVADO mineralized material, has verified each of the unit operations and has generated a suite of valuable products. We have met our objectives in a timely manner within budget and are confidently moving ahead with our development plan."
NEVADO is currently compiling and synthesizing the 2010 and 2011 exploration work on the La Blache Project, including the prospective Farrell-Taylor oxide mineralization, with a view to complete, in 2012, a National Instrument 43-101 compliant mineral resources estimate and a preliminary economic assessment study or PEA. The PEA will incorporate NEOMETs mass-energy process model from the mini-plant campaign which has demonstrated that leaching of the La Blache Iron-Titanium-Vanadium oxide mineralization is a simple, rapid and effective process, requiring no heat input, and able to operate at high solids loading, all of which should minimize both the capital and operating costs of the leaching circuit.
About Nevado Resources Corporation
NEVADO is a Canadian junior resource company trading under the symbols VDO on the TSX Venture Exchange and NSV on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange. NEVADO owns 2,318 mineral claims or an equivalent of 1,227 km2 in the Baie-Comeau, Fermont and Eastern Townships regions of Quebec. The Company is currently focused on advancing the La Blache Iron-Titanium-Vanadium Project in the Baie-Comeau region towards National Instrument 43-101 mineral resources and development.
About NEOMET Technologies
NEOMET develops, owns and markets high-performance proprietary metals processes and technologies and owns a comprehensive portfolio of process and industrial design patents and revolutionary, commercially sustainable systems for recovering high grade value metals from crushed ore to compound concentrates and refractory deposits, and all without any detriment to the environment. The heart of the NEVADOs planned metallurgy campaign is NEOMETs unique and patented Acid Recovery and Regeneration Process, which based on third party evaluations, operates at a fraction of the cost compared to more conventional and energy consuming technologies such as pyro-hydrolysis, above all when the latter is coupled with solvent extraction for Iron and/or Titanium. Simultaneously, the NEOMET Process produces higher grade hematite of greater than 99% purity (Iron oxide), which is a premium product suitable for the pigment market or for processing into higher quality steels.
